Once a child's adult teeth begin to emerge around age six to seven, it’s important that an orthodontist assesses their smile for misalignment and malocclusion. That’s because problems with teeth crowding can lead to a variety of health issues. Headaches, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), increased risk of cavities and gum disease, and difficulty eating are all potential problems that can arise from misaligned teeth. Some children benefit from early braces treatment, palatal expanders, or space maintainers, to make more room for their emerging permanent teeth, while other kids won't need treatment until around age 11 to 14.

Parents often worry that braces for their child will cost a fortune–but here at Summit Family Orthodontics, we offer solutions for teeth misalignment at an affordable price.

How We Make Kids' Braces Affordable

Don’t panic if you feel that braces may be out of your reach financially. To begin, your child's first orthodontic consultation, complete with X-rays, is complimentary. We want you to remain comfortable and at ease while your child's orthodontic needs are evaluated. If you and your child decide to pursue our recommended treatment, it could cost a few thousand dollars, but there are a number of different financial routes you can take. Our office is insurance-friendly and will work with your provider to maximize your benefits. If you don’t have dental insurance, we accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and third-party financing through CareCredit®. We also offer our own in-house financing option so you can split the cost of braces into manageable payments over time. And lastly, we invite patients to participate in our fun rewards program, where they can earn small prizes from our special cabinet or gift cards from various vendors!

Types of Braces for Kids

At your child's complimentary consultation, we can recommend whether they would most benefit from traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, or Invisalign® clear aligners. Braces utilize brackets, wires, and rubber bands to correct a wide range of misalignment, while clear aligner therapy involves a series of removable clear retainers that must be worn 20-22 hours a day. The best fit for your child will depend on their orthodontic needs and lifestyle.
